As all of you know, the protesting farmers from Gorakhpur & other villages are continously sitting in protest -- from August 17, 2010 -- to stop the proposed Gorakhpur Nuclear Power plant in Fatehabad district of Haryana.  Two elderly farmers had died earlier due to the severe cold last winter (yet the farmers have not stopped from their daily sit-in protest, which is now well over a year) .

Last night saw the death of the third protesting farmer -- Shri Ishwar Singh, age 62,  who fell ill while sitting in the protest.  He was shifted to Rohtak for Medical care, but died early in the morning.

In the meantime, the Haryana Govt has issued Section 6 notice along with emergncy clause -- for acquiring the land in Gorakhpur & Badopal villages -- even ignoring the provision of the new LARR 2011 (though very regressive in many sense) that irrigated, multi-crop land can only be 5% of the acquisition.

All of Gorakhpur is irrigated 3-crop land.

At this difficult times for the struggling anti-nuclear movement, we request all of you to stand with them in solidarity. Pl also send this news to media, other movement groups .... and do whatever you can to strengthen this anti-nuclear struggle.
