I'm sending you this message in order to inform you of an artistic action that I conducted this 27th June, in front of the headquarter of Monsanto in Morges, Switzerland.

I'm a Swiss artist graduated of the School of Art of Geneva. My work is heavily influenced by the news and I'have been very affected by the sad phenomena of the peasants committing suicide in India since the 90s after contracting with Monsanto for buying their seeds.

I built a temple dedicated to Shiva which I placed in front of the headquarter of the company. Following the tradition I made an offering of flower petals and lit incense sticks. Two texts, one in French and one in English, were visible on the temple. The action took place without any reaction from Monsanto and 20 minutes after the temple was removed and thrown away, which again show their lack of interest in this cause. I wanted to relate you about this performance which I hope will be received by you in an other way that it touch Monsanto.

In honor and memory of the 200,000 farmers that committed suicide.

 Best regards

This gift or “dana” of Navadhanyas (nine seeds) is the ultimate gift – it is a gift of life, of heritage and continuity. Conserving seed is conserving biodiversity, conserving knowledge of the seed and its utilization, conserving culture, conserving sustainability.
