Cyclone Phailin hit Orissa on 12th Oct 2013. While the loss of human lives has not been as severe as the 1999 supercyclone because of disaster preparedness on the part of the administration, the challenge of rebuilding communities is high.

Because of Climate Change, cyclones and hurricanes have become more frequent and more intense.The salt water from the sea travels further inwards. Rehabilitation of Agriculture requires the distribution of salt tolrant seeds which Navdanya has been saving in its community seed bank in Orissa. This is what we did in 1999 after the Supercyclone. With your help we can make sure that we are able to distribute Seeds of Hope to the affected communities in Orissa.
